Easy Microwave Caramels

Jack and I tried another Pinterest Recipe!! I can't wait to share this one! It is SUPER fast, easy and you will probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen. Here's what you need:

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup karo syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (do not use fat free)

Simply combine all the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Lightly grease a square baking dish with cooking spray. Pour in the mixture and allow to completely cool.

This is what it should look like.

Cut it into squares and individually wrap them in wax or parchment paper. Voila! This recipe would be awesome for caramel apples!!!

Refurbished Window

So, I went "picking" with my sweet Mother-in-law a couple of weekends ago. It was so exciting! I found lots of great pieces for my Vintage Shop! I also found this antique window. The lady at the store gave it to me for only $5!!! I was so stinkin' excited! My wheels immediately started turning on what I could do with it! This is what I came up with:

I decoupaged the back sides of the left and right panes with fabric scraps. The middle pane is painted with 3 coats of chalkboard paint.

I made matching fabric and felt flowers for the corner and just hot glued them on.

I had some of these cute little buckets in my craft room. So, I hot glued one to the window and dropped in some chalk and a dry erase marker.

Last, I added a wooden initial that I painted silver. =) This project was so fun to do....a little time consuming, but totally worth it in the end!!! It is now hanging perfectly above my stove! Love it!

Microwave Brownie in a Mug!

Pinterest has so many awesome ideas out there, right?!?! So, how many of those ideas have you actually tried?? I have decided to put my time home with my kiddos to good use and learn some easy, quick, and thrifty recipes and projects. But, I also want to share my experiences with you so that you can see if the results are worth the time, money and effort.

To begin my journey, what better recipe to try than a 1 minute, 5 ingredient, microwave BROWNIE!?!?!

What you gotta have:
A microwave-safe mug
1/4 Cup Flour
1/4 Cup packed Brown Sugar, no lumps
2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa
1 Tablespoon Canola Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk or Coffee (or just water)

Mix together your dry ingredients first, then wisk in your wet ingredients. Mix until smooth and thick. Now place the mug in the microwave. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Because microwaves vary, you may want to check it after about 35 seconds so it doesn't over cook. I went 55 seconds and it was perfect-o!

Now, all you gotta do is let it cool just a bit, and ENJOY! Jack sure did, he ate every bite! =)
